We parents should be allowed to do our job!!

by NickysMumMumComment Published at 04:4704:471 comments1 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport
I am a good mum and I won’t let anyone make me feel like I am doing any less than what I feel is best for my own son. As a mother of an active two and a half year old I am continually confronted with people who wish to assert their authority and discipline my child, even while I’m talking to him, and attempting to redirect his behaviour myself. I don’t care how well meaning these people believe themselves to be, these people should just butt out. It is demoralizing and makes parents feel that they aren’t doing a good enough job. These people need to get off their high horse and allow parents to retain the responsibility for disciplining their own children. How are children supposed to learn self-discipline if they aren't first disciplined by their own parents?

PRICE OF FOOD TO FEED A FAMILY, 2ND HAND SHOPS, NEED HELP WITH HOLIDAY IDEAS.

by booblady-1Comment Published at 22:5822:581 comments1 comments21 Visits21 VisitsReport

Every fortnight i go to town and what do you know a bottle of milk gone up 30 cents, fruit and veges through the roof and meat well mince and sausages are about the only thing you can afford. Homebrand products not on the shelf i have to opt for the more expensive less food you can get. They could let us know of the price increase no they dont put up a sign i didnt have time to look at small tag look at prices find out the hard way at the checkout. I am sure you all have this problem but it really gets to me they tell you to eat heathy but at $6.98 a kg for broccoli how can you afford enough to feed 9 people. A lady that works there told us they put most prices up 10 percent every fortnight.

Bought our daughter a dress for her last year of primary school for year 7, went to the op shop found a beautiful dress fo $5.00 never worn and nice shoes for $4.00 thank god for 2nd hand shops.

NEARLY ANOTHER YEAR OVER 6 WEEKS HOLIDAYS TO LONG FOR KIDS THEY GET SO BORED GOT ANY IDEAS  FOR THAT LONG PERIOD OF TIME WITH LITTLE COST.

Advertising near schools! & Child care!

by nae-ayeComment Published at 08:0808:081 comments1 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

1... I drive to work between 7:45am and 8:30am monday to friday and pass a primary school.  I watched the kids walking to school and was thinking how cool it is for kids to go to school.  Then to my anger saw signs of Alcohol advertisments all up the oppisite side of the street 6-9 of them.  Everybody knows the dangers of alcohol and all the undesirable behaviours that effect people who consume it.  WHY is this kind of advertising allowed any were near the school?  I have rung a few places to see what I can do about this and I will get something done.  Am I over reacting?

2...  I gave my 2 weeks notification of tremination of care of my child to the daycare center.  Paid all the outstanding blance plus the 2 weeks.  I assumed they would automaticly cancell my direct debt payments thats why we have to give 2 weeks.  BUT no I was told I got to do that myself.  And now I have to wait for how ever long it takes them to give me my refund.  Also for the amount of money we pay for childcare fees, why havent the workers had a pay rise.  The workers arent paid engouh money for the amount of caring, compassion, educatoin and love they provide our children with.

Well Thanks for letting me get that off me chest. Cheers everyone. Yes I do feel better

From one driving mother to another... HELP

by incredimomComment Published at 16:4516:450 comments0 comments15 Visits15 VisitsReport

Hey y'all, so I am in the market for a new car (my current car needs a loan and a half to fill up at the pump). These are the two cars that caught my eye because they look nice and roomy for my little angels to ride in.  These are also the two that seem to be easier on the eyes and easier on my wallet as I am raising my babies on my own.

The two cars I was looking at were the Dodge Magnum and the Ford Freestyle; both 2005 models (that’s the year my oldest was born). They look nice all around (they look good on gas but they don’t look gimmicky or tank-like in shape).

Specifically, I would like to know how "kid friendly" these two are cars are. How easy would it be to put the car seats in? Can I fit more than one car seat? Would it be relatively easy to check on my angels as I am on the road? Their safety is my main concern... Mommy SOS

I'm back after not being able to write a blog for so long!!

by Roz69Comment Published at 18:5818:580 comments0 comments15 Visits15 VisitsReport

Hi to all my Minti friends,

Things are slowly getting back to normal around our house - I did think once - Would they ever get back to normal?

My hubby has been quite sick Easter - got better - went back to work - then his health concerns started all over again?!! He hasn't been able to work 'cause of it!! Which is not good as he has to see a specialist - but get an apptment  to see this specialist yet!!

There are days where he can hardly get out of bed - no energy!! His health concerns started from blood clots in his legs - went from bad to worse!! So now I'm doing things for both of us and getting the kids to school!! He has improved but he has to have an op to fix the prob, too!!

I'm so tired alot lately - try to rest during the day - but there is always plenty of things to do - household chores, things school related and generally just worrying about the bills to pay!!

There is days where I don't feel like getting out of bed myself - let alone - to do anything that I have to do - at the best of times!!

The kids have been at each other alot lately - mainly all school related problems coming home!! I just feel there are days where I get so weighed down by all this, too!! Know what I mean?!!

Then Centrelink seems to join in to make our lives more unbearable, too!! I'm under enough stress and worry regarding my hubby and kids and then they add to the pile - don't they?!!

Gee,I feel heaps better - getting that off my chest - so to speak today!!

When I start feeling that things are starting to get a little better - something always unravels my thoughts and feelings, too!! But I guess I still can say that I can still smile and have a good laugh when things do seem rather tough on all sides, too!!

Thanks for listening to me - so glad that there is MINTI - a most worthy webpage, too!!

If anyone has any thoughts on how to deal with anything that has happened to us - that it would be truly - fanastic!!

Cheers,Roz.

bloody school morning!

by milkbarsComment Published at 17:3117:314 comments4 comments34 Visits34 VisitsReport

Arrgghhh why do kids make it sooo hard for me and my hubby in the morning. My 2 boys are in yr 5 and 3. Today it wa the 9yr old to muck up. First he wakes up at 4:30am cause he is hungry! I told him to make some breaky then go back to bed. YEAH RIGHT. After trashing my kitchen he then puts the tv on and turns it up fullblast.  After i drag my tired butt out of bed I turn it down anddo a quick tidy up of the kitchen  I tell him to go back to bed before he wakes the baby up. (8 weeks old) Again he ignores me and turns on the playstation gets the s"*&s as hubby has hidden the control cords. Now it is 5am and he is having a massive screaming match with me.  I did my best to shut him up and ended up giving up and turning tv on (only so he wouldnt wake up the neighbourhood and the rest of our family)I went back to bed HUGE MISTAKE. When I got up at 7ish to do school stuff I walk into the lounge room to find that a human Cooper tornado has gone through my house! I have eggs cracked open and stuck to everytrhing as he tried to make scrambled eggs and cornflakes. Sugar is all over the floor and milk all over the bench and cornflakes all on the table. The lounge room is covered in bloody lego and dvd's are pulled out everywhere!.  I know he has ADHD but jezz give me a break. So after my hubby ironed the clothes and I made the lunches it is the fun battle of "LETS GET IN THE CAR". He is now extremly tired and informs me that he is not going to school because he wants to sleep!  Well tough luck kido you are going to school. He then takes of running around the backyard front yard so I cant catch him. Doing all this with a huge smile on his face!!!!! By this stage I have just about got steam coming out of my ears. He then runs of down the street with me screaming at him and chasing him. (Neighbours must think I am a freak!) In the end I gave up and got in the car with my other son (10) as I am reversing Coop thinks it would be a good idea to run behind me..thank god I was only going snail pace and had afeeling he was going to do that. His father said either get in the car or i gonna through your dogs (toy ones) in the bin!. Coop though he was bluffing till Gary held up a dog and held it over the bin. So then Coop started crying and got in the car. I havent even changed mind you so of to school I go in my PJ'S. We get there and he starts again I NOT GOING. I told him that if I have to get out of this car in my PJ'S I will not only put your dogs int he bin I will burn the bloody things! He finally got out went to school and no I have peace and quiet till 3pm.

Thanks for letting my vent.

up date on Junkie scum

by happy-mumComment Published at 04:1804:185 comments5 comments42 Visits42 VisitsReport

Hello once again to everyone! i have an update on th "junkie scum" blog i wrote 4 weeks ago. Well, just a few days ago i heard my big old guard dog at it again. i was so worried, it was 10am and it was only my baby daughter and i home. I looked out the back window and couldnt see anything so i shrugged it off and started walking towars the front of the house. There was a man there looking around in my front court yard!!! he wondered off after a few seconds and i tried to ignore it. Then i heard the dog going absolutley crazy again, this time i called my next door neighbour (we have a block of units with all young men and girls next door). He told me he would come stright over (very nice guy) and on his way across he saw the same man trying to get over our large fence into our back yard. He went stright up to the man and confronted him. This was an old guy, in his 50's with tattoos up his arms, nuckles and knees bleeding and stunk like pot, he also had dillated pupils and he was grinding his teeth, absolutley high on something!!! so anyway the man did a runner and the neighbour came over to check on me, we called the police, gave a discription and still nothing. It may not be related to our first break and enter but im seriously considering giving up my dream home with cheap rent to go somewhere safer for the family.  im so affried to be home by myself. anyway, had to vent
